It made it easier when I wanted to look at new items I'd just picked up. I liked having an option to mark items as favorite and unfavorited (to-be-sold) as well as just leaving items unmarked. The rate of getting a luneshine from my endeavors soft resetting the game is about 50 if you do it this way. The moonstone grind should cost about 213 moonstones at level 70. I do wish that GBX hadn't removed the unfavorited clicky though. Save the game before you do your grind by going to your badass challenge points w/e menu and turning them off and back on real quick.
Sometimes, they learned about it, because they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about how they wished there was a way to sell everything that they didn't have favorited, and someone else told them about the feature. Everyone I played with in BL2 and BL:TPS used the feature after they learned about it. So great to not have to sell each one separately. Ya, unload all of the junk at the next vendor. Also, there's no logical reason in the BL series to ever feel motivated to 'unload all' - no one I know has ever felt the need - you hold onto it to sell at the next vendor or to stick in your bank accounts. If the gameplay had been better designed, it'd never have allowed a player to 'unload all unfavorited' arms in a single-click, particularly one so easy to execute. But my reason for not liking the option is that it is so relatively and commonly hit in error. :-) I kinda disagree though it's unimportant in any event. Best BL QoL feature ever for those who pay attention.
